VEEDEEO is going to Barcelona to introduce the Global Video Directory

VEEDEEO is on its way to the most artistic city in Spain to attend 4YFN Barcelona. From 27 February to 1 March 2017, the VEEDEEO team will present the global video directory. The event integrates the Mobile World Congress, which will happening simultaneously in Barcelona.

4 Years From Now (4YFN) was created to help startups connect to investors and other technology and innovation companies and promote, therefore, new business ideas.

VEEDEEO will be exhibiting as a startup to promote its cloud video conferencing platform during the 3 days of the 4YFN. The the global video directory, a free service for companies, will be one of the highlights of the VEEDEEO presence in this event. This service was released at the beginning of the year and has been winning users ever since.

VEEDEEO is also looking for new partners all over Europe.

VEEDEEO creates the first free video communications directory in the world

This new global directory makes video communications as simple as traditional phone calls and represents a step forward into a trully video connected world.

VEEDEEO has released the very first global video directory for video conferencing systems. This service is available to any company, entirely for free.

The VEEDEEO network works as a global and independent directory in the cloud where companies register their video equipments, independently of manufacturer – supporting Cisco, Polycom, Avaya, Huawei and others. Each video system gets a unique and global video number. With this number it is possible to make and receive video calls directly between registered systems, with the same ease as doing a normal phone call.

“One of the main causes that make video calling so painful is that there is no centralized system to distribute unique video numbers to all video endpoints and handle the necessary network connections”, says Carlos Tavares, the founder and CEO of VEEDEEO. “Making video calls between systems in different networks is often extremely difficult because it involves complex configurations and other time consuming security issues that require technical expertise”.

To solve this problem – and make video communications truly universal – VEEDEEO has created a central cloud system, based in market standards, that free companies from the need to have additional hardware to make external video calls. Each video conferencing system works as a video endpoint in the network. It also ensures the best security for the corporate networks when it comes to video communications. The VEEDEEO platform handles the public and private IP conversions (NAT Traversal) of all registered video systems, safeguarding their privacy.

The VEEDEEO cloud platform is like a bridge between video systems. Any company can start a video call by simply dialing the 6 digit video number and wait for the destination to answer the call – all in seconds.

“We say this network is like the yellow pages for video conferencing, where any company can register free and give use to its video conferencing equipments with the entire world”, concludes Carlos Tavares.

This new platform has as primary goal to change the video communications landscape and to contribute to a closer video-connected world.

To register in the VEEDEEO network companies can create their free account at and follow the step-by-step instructions provided.

Registrations in the VEEDEEO cloud are unlimited, meaning companies can register all their video conferencing systems at no costs.

Why Chrome is the best browser to host your VEEDEEO meetings

One of the (greatest) benefits of using cloud video as a service is you simply need to have a (good) Internet connection, a computer and a browser. We are sure your company has invested in computers with a good internet connection and everyone at your company has always a browser window opened in your desktop just in case you need to check your email, you social network profiles, news or the latest professional, tech and fashion trends (yes, we know you do because we do the same) – otherwise you would not be reading this article.

There are are many options when it comes to browsers, specially because companies have several concerns that inevitably affect their decision, such as security, privacy and speed. In a quick search over the internet (through your prefered browser, of course) you can find plenty of reviews and opinion articles about which browser performs the best.

Nevertheless, numbers say something about quality as well. And Google Chrome is the preferred browser amongst individual and enterprise users. According to StatCounter, Chrome has seen its worldwide traffic grow during the first months of 2016 – in April, 60.5% of the users across the world accessed Chrome from their desktops – an increase of about 14% since April 2015.

And because users are everywhere, on the move, Google estimates 1 billion mobile internet users have Chrome browser as their first choice when they access internet from their smartphones or tablets. Firefox comes in second, competing with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) and the brand new Edge, but substantially far from the traffic Chrome is winning month by month.

IE was once the most popular browser option – and is actually the longest running. At the beginning of last year, IE still controlled almost 60% of the user traffic, but the Microsoft’s decision to give 17 months to all users to upgrade their older versions of IE (including the popular IE 8 version) to newer versions supported by Windows 7 and 8.1, followed by the support suspension of the older browsers, encouraged users to find alternatives. Besides, IE’s popularity made it a coveted target to viruses and malicious attacks, a strong contribution to its vulnerability and consequent abandonment of IE feature and security updates.

The many companies which still use older versions of IE as default browsers are now facing potential security and privacy issues and longer waiting time to load search results and website pages, which inevitably affects the performance of web applications and cloud-based software.

Chrome for the best cloud video conferencing experience

Before blaming the app for its so-called poor quality, bear in mind some browsers were designed, built and updated with features that boost the performance of websites and web applications. Annual and monthly browser reviews put Firefox and Chrome at the top for their speed, security and privacy, extensions and features. And because both support WebRTC (browser-based real-time communications), they are the preferred browsers for web and video conferencing platforms.

WebRTC was released in 2011 by Google as an open source software project. Since then it has been optimized to support browser-to-browser applications for communications in real time – voice, video and file sharing. Using just a browser, any user can use apps to share content and start an audio or video call without external plugins or software installation.

Chrome was developed by Google and, as expected, WebRTC is native in this browser (and also in Mozilla Firefox and Opera; Microsoft Edge had recently joined the supported browsers elite club). This means the possibilities of WebRTC are full in a Chrome or Firefox browser. You can start and manage a voice or video call from a browser on your laptop or mobile phone while seated comfortably in a video conferencing room or the airport waiting lounge.

For this many advantages – and specially because is accessible to everyone who wants to give it a shot – Chrome is the most suitable option for a complete and indefectible video conferencing experience. Companies across the world and all dimensions recognize Chrome’s benefits for their everyday activities. When it comes to security, Google has never concealed its security and privacy certificates, something they take seriously. Google Chrome is trusted by large and highly protected companies and institutions – even the US Government.

One more thing…

Inevitably, we are dealing with technology. Let’s face reality and assume technology has its failures. Your Chrome browser can rock and your video meetings still fail. Why? Several reasons – but begin to check your bandwidth.
