Skype for Business integration

Everybody knows Skype for Business. Like it or not, the adaptation of the most well-known video call tool to the business universe has been quite successful. For that reason, several video conferencing services providers have decided to integrate in their products the ability to call or receive calls from Skype for Business clients.

VEEDEEO is now part of those video conferencing service providers who makes it possible to join, in the very same video call, both VEEDEEO and Skype for Business users.

VEEDEEO customers can call and receive calls from Skype for Business users in their virtual meeting rooms:

  • they can invite Skype for Business users to multipoint video calls with other devices (smartphones via mobile app, PCs, internal or external video conferencing systems and phones);
  • they can call Skype for Business users (or even personal Skype accounts) during a on-going video call from the VEEDEEO call interface.

For those companies with registered video systems in the VEEDEEO cloud, calls between Skype for Business users and those systems can be placed directly:

  • Skype for Business users can call directly the video system by dialing its VEEDEEO number address as if they were calling any other Skype user.

VEEDEEO has been looking to unify all possible video communications devices and systems to help companies widen their remote collaboration possibilities. All of this complemented, of course, with advanced features of content sharing, recording, real time broadcasting to large audiences and much more.

Control the network quality of the participants of your video meetings

VEEDEEO has developped a new feature to allow you to predict the quality of a video meeting by analysing the stability of the internet connection of each participants’ devices.

All participants are given immediate diagnosis of the quality of their network and that of the other participants. When you start your video meeting, on the left side menu just click on Guests> View Participants. On the attendee list, you can see a network icon that can take up to 3 different colors, depending on network quality:

  • Green: stable and good quality connection;
  • Yellow: few connection failures, but there might be some instability;
  • Red: very unstable quality, network with several faults and strong possibility of connection breakage.

Participants list

In case you network or that of one of the participants is red, choose to:

  • refresh the browser page;
  • change the wi-fi connection source to cable (if possible);
  • connect to another network; or, in case of persistence of reduced quality,
  • join the meeting with audio only mode or phone.

It is also possible to get more details about the source of the connection of each participant by clicking on the participant name. VEEDEEO system shows deatails such as:

  • source device for connecting to the video meeting (videoconferencing, browser or phone);
  • protocol used by the device (WebRTC, SIP, H323);
  • amount (in %) of network packet loss (audio and video).

VEEDEEO upgrades its system to simplify user experience

As part of the continuous R&D effort to make VEEDEEO the most innovative video cloud platform in the market, we have proceeded to a major upgrade at the beginning of this week.

As a result, the VEEDEEO system is now easier and simpler and has gained several improvements and convenient new features.

1. Refreshed call interface

Simpler, cleaner and 100% user friendly. We understood the last call menu was quite confusing with so many button options, so we decided to let only the most used buttons visible during the call and arranged all other options on the new improved menu sidebar. This sidebar menu, on the left, will also be always visible so no feature is missed (some users were unaware of the former sidebar menu because that was hidden).

2. Screen-sharing performance better than ever

Faster and optimized so users can share any content on their screens during the video meetings with the best possible results. And to all internet users fancying Mozilla Firefox browser above all others, news are good. Is now possible to start a screen-share using this browser (no plugins needed).

3. Layout design more suitable to user demands

Users can now change the layout regardlessly of the number of participants, as well as enable or disable VAD at any moment during the call. This means VAD no longer turns automatic in meetings with 5 or more participants.

Brand new

4. VEEDEEO turns multi-language

We are giving the first steps into making VEEDEEO a multi-language platform. We have added two new languages beside English: is now possible to use the platform in Portuguese or Spanish. Boas notícias! Users can change the language preference at anytime, even right before entering the call (this will not affect the preference of the organizer).

5. Audio-only participants can now watch the video meeting

Just a matter of choice. If a user doesn’t have the necessary gear or doesn’t want to participate in a video meeting, he or she can listen to and watch it anyway in audio-only mode.

6. Testing audio to make it flawless

When onboarding a call, users can select the audio output (speakers) and test the audio before the meeting. Any technical flaw can be therefore identified and corrected in advance so as not to affect the video session.

7. Registered Video Systems can be called from the meeting interface

Global Video Directory is now integrated in the call interface, allowing users to add / call registered video systems during the meeting. Registered systems must be online.

8. Permission to speak during a meeting

Also we have added the Raise hand (or Request to speak) feature to help hosts to moderate participants and conduct a truly productive video meeting. This new feature can be found on the left sidebar menu.

Turn chat during your webinars or online events public, private or disabled

Give your viewers the privacy they need to ask questions and leave comments during your webinar. If VEEDEEO is your preferable tool for your webinars, learn how to use the Broadcast Chat.

First of all, you can decide whether to enable or not the chat during your session. Why not, you may ask? It depends on the content of your speech.

But if you are planning to answer questions, you can keep the chat enabled (which it already is by default). Use the toggle button to Disable broadcast chat (as below).

Broadcast Chat_Disable

To open the chat window on your VEEDEEO space, go to the left menu and select Broadcast Chat. The chat window will appear on the right side of the screen (see image below).

Broadcast Chat_Menu

All chat details will be archived so you can access it later.

You can also make your broadcast chat private. On the window chat, at the top, use the toogle button to make chat private (as below). Chat will be private if this icon Broadcast Chat_Private_icon is orange. All comments and questions from viewers will be only read by the organizer / presenter of the webinar or online event.

Broadcast Chat_Private

If you prefer to offer a personalized answer after the session, you can access the chat details and contact the viewer directly. Go the meeting card on the Past Meetings section of the Timeline and click on the icon Broadcast_Past Meeting Timeline_Icon BroadcastvIewers Details (Broadcast Viewers Details). You will be able to see all relevant chat details listed in the Broadcast Chat Transcript section, such as content, name of the viewer who made the comment and timestamp.

Broadcast Viewers Details_Chat

You can download all details to a .CSV file (editable in Excel or Google Sheets).

Build your contact lists from your VEEDEEO broadcast sessions

We understand webinars and online events are great marketing actions and lead collectors. VEEDEEO has been developing the Video Broadcast feature so it can be the perfect tool for marketing, human resources and customer support departments. Our main concern is, of course, the image and audio quality, but we also want to help you build your contact lists.

That is why we are now introducing the possibility of requesting both name and email of all viewers. This feature is optional and you can disable it anytime before starting your broadcast session.

To enable Name and Email, go to your VEEDEEO space and start a broadcast session. On the broadcast settings board, select the option “Require name and email to watch” by activating the toggle button (see image below).

Broadcast_Email and Name

When you enable this option, all viewers will be requested to insert their email and name before watching.

Broadcast_Email and Name request

To access the viewers list after the broadcast session has ended, go to your Timeline and look for the Past Meetings. On the respective meeting card press the icon Broadcast_Past Meeting Timeline_Icon BroadcastvIewers Details (Broadcast viewers details).

You will be able to see the full list of the broadcast viewers, their emails and the time they joined and left the session. Also you can download all details to a .csv file (editable in tools like Excel or Google Sheets).

Connect your endpoints directly to your virtual meeting room

If you have created endpoints in your VEEDEEO account, you probably have noticed you can add your endpoints as “guests” when you schedule your video meetings.

This is useful because it books the video conferencing room for your meeting (other users will know there will be a meeting in that room at determined time and date), but it also makes it faster to start your meeting.

If you are organizing a video meeting and you have added an endpoint as guest, you can connect the endpoint directy from your scheduled meeting card and automatically enter your meeting in “control mode”.

This is possible if your endpoint is registered in the VEEDEEO cloud gatekeeper. 30 minutes before the meeting scheduled start time, you will see a “Connect” button next to the endpoint “participant” name (as image below).

If you click Connect, you will connect the endpoint to your virtual meeting room.

How to make endpoints visible in the Global Directory

When an Admin creates an endpoint on the VEEDEEO platform, he can name the equipment or room (for instance, “Board meeting room”), set the maximum video resolution of the equipment or even add a calendar resource email to quickly book the room.

All created endpoints are listed in the Video Systems Directory page. In this page Admins can see the full list of the video endpoints, with respective video number and PIN.

To register the video conferencing equipment free in the global directory, Admins can use both the video number and PIN. Also, is now possible to make endpoints visible in the Global Directory.

To make endpoints visible in the global directory, Admins just need to check the box Visible in global directory on the Edit window of the endpoint (see image below).

VEEDEEO_Interface_Edit Endpoint_Visible in Global directory_sml

Endpoint will only be visible in the global directory if it is registered in the VEEDEEO cloud.

VEEDEEO has created two new icons to tell which endpoints are visible and registered. The new icons are available in the Additional endpoint info table (see image below).

Directory Visibility

If endpoint is visible, the globe icon will be orange. If endpoint is registered in the VEEDEEO cloud, the arrows icon will become green check icons.

The Global Video Directory is a free service, so you can create and register unlimited endpoits. Create your account to create and register your endpoints.
