[Update] Screen-sharing feature enhancements

Screen Sharing frame

During video meetings is sometimes important to share documents or apps to illustrate a concept or show results. For that reason, we made major enhancements to the screen-sharing feature in the Chrome browser.

1. Smoother image

First of all, we have improved the quality of the image streamed by the screen-share feature.

The less frames per second the image has, the greater the dragging sensation and the lower its definition. That is why the streaming capacity is now 30 frames per second, which results in a smoother video image. Starting a VEEDEEO screen-sharing by browser is as good as sharing your screen from a video conference system.

2. Share screen with audio

From now on is also possible to share audio with your screen. To do that, you simple have to select the “Share audio” option on the the screen-sharing feature window (as below).

The other participants will be able to listen to all audio coming from your computer, including your voice.

[Update] How system identifies the “Audio Only” mode during a meeting

You may enter a VEEDEEO meeting in “Audio Only” mode by choice or when the quality of your network obliges the system to automatically switch your participation mode to “Audio Only”.

To help other participants make sure you are connected to the meeting, every time you are on “Audio Only” mode, your video image will be replaced by a card with your name. This way they’ll know exactly who is speaking.

[Update] Browser meetings optimized

If you use your browser as your preferred host for video meetings, you know network is of the utmost importance.

Sometimes network fluctuations can be the worst enemies of the video meeting image quality. It can affect the video during a browser meeting, causing it to freeze or, worst, lose connection. This may result in interrupting the call and starting again, which is not acceptable.

We know it is almost impossible to predict the quality of the network, but we can prevent it from affecting your video call.

To avoid interrupting your meeting with technical issues caused by poor quality networks, and because we want you to experience more stable and seamless video calls, we have optimized the WebRTC engine.

1. Stay logged into the meeting if you lose connection

If you have entered a VEEDEEO meeting by browser and suddenly your internet connection is lost, the system will automatically reconnect you into the call when your network is again stabilized.

2. Stay logged into the meeting in “audio only” mode

Nobody wants to be interrupted by a freezed video image, so whenever your network undergoes strong fluctuations, VEEDEEO automatically switches your participation mode to “audio only”. Learn more about the “audio only” mode improvements.

This means you will still be able to watch all participants’ video images and they will perfectly listen to you. You simply avoid a poor quality video image from messing with your meeting success.
